David Pounds
Director of Construction Services / Tulsa
David Pounds announced to his family in the seventh grade that one day he would join the Army and go to West Point.
By 1999, he was commissioned as an engineer officer at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, with a degree in environmental engineering. He served as combat engineer — eventually being promoted to Captain — for seven years of active duty, spending time in Kosovo and Germany, and as part of a task force sent to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
He enjoyed building bunkers, reinforcing bridges and helping improve survivability to help keep people safe. After the Army, David worked as a civil engineer but needed more of a challenge. Soon he made another family announcement while attending a football game at Boone Pickens Stadium at Oklahoma State University, where Flintco was building the new stadium.
“I smelled the dirt and the diesel, and I looked at my dad and said, ‘I think I’m going to do construction,’” David said.
David joined Flintco in 2007 in the Preconstruction Department. When the opportunity arose, David was thrilled to help develop Flintco’s Construction Support Services (CSS) department.
“We have the ability through CSS to enhance our project teams’ ability to pursue the perfect construction experience,” he said.
David enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children and is an avid bicyclist participating with “Team Flintco” in the annual Tulsa Tough bicycling race.
